Bronze and Cut Glass Standish

Cut glass and ormolu standish (more commonly called an inkstand) is a small container or case that was historically used for holding writing materials such as pens, ink, and paper.  This standish is oval in shape, comprising a central bronze-lidded and cut glass ink pot, flanked by a pounce pot, and a quill/pen holder pot. Pounce or sand is a fine powder, most often made from powdered cuttlefish bone or sandarac resin, that was used both to dry ink. Patina noted.
