





Antique Leather Hat Box with Top Hat

Top Hat: Also known as a high hat, cylinder hat, or topper, it was a prominent formal fashion accessory in Western culture from the late 18th century, traditionally made of black silk. Hat Box: The hat box is crafted from leather, possibly pigskin, and features a rich patinated finish consistent with its age and use. Interior: The inside of the hat box is lined with a quilted, reddish-colored fabric, likely silk or velvet, designed to protect the hat. Era: This ensemble likely dates back to the mid-19th century, a period when such items were essential for gentlemen's formal attire and travel.
Hat Box made in Boston in the 1800's. The leather straps are all intact with no tears. The strap on the top is in tact. The button mechanism to open the box works great. The box holds a black top hat. There are round ball feet under the box.
Disclaimers: Overall for this type of hat box the condition is great. Usually you will find these was torn straps. There is scuff marks and scratches on the exterior leather. There is some imperfections on the inside of the box to the velvet. A collectors piece!
