Mini Dundee Marmalade Jam Jar
Antique stoneware crock jar for James Keiller & Sons Dundee Marmalade.
This one is a mini version to the larger popular jam jars.
The jar is made of English ironstone and dates to the period between 1862 and 1873. It features a black transfer print with the company's logo and mentions the "Grand Medal of Merit Vienna" and the "Prize Medal for Marmalade London, 1862". These jars were used to sell Keiller's famous orange marmalade, which became an iconic brand in the 18th and 19th centuries. The jars are now considered collectibles and are often found in antique shops.
There is a hairline that does not go all the way down. And the structure of the jar is still intact. There is staining and crazing.
Measurements: Approximately 3 x 2 in
