Yellow & Green Glaze Terracotta Pot

Origin: Unknown. However it does resemble a Hungarian style terracotta as well as French.  Purpose: Could have held water or these terracotta vessels were used for storing preserves like duck or goose confit, often having a lid made of esparto grass or cork.  Characteristics: They typically feature a half-glazed finish, often in classic yellow ocher or green, and exhibit a rustic, weathered appearance, sometimes with visible antique repairs.  Modern Use: Today, they are valued as decorative pieces, adding a touch of French Provincial charm, rustic aesthetics, or a wabi-sabi feel to interiors.
